After letting the vacuum run for the required amount of time, the next step is to close the valve that connects to the low-side gauge. Once you’ve done this, let the pump hold the vacuum for 15 minutes. If the pump is not able to hold the vacuum for that long, you could possibly have a leak and may have to replace the components of your vacuum.
Step 8: Shut off the AC vacuum pump
When you feel the system has held the vacuum long enough, turn the pump off using the same mechanism you used to turn it on. Wait till your vacuum pump disengages completely before you disconnect the system.
Step 9: Disconnect your vacuum
After the AC vacuum pump has fully disengaged, you can begin disconnecting the hoses leading to the pump. At this point, the AC system should be fully evacuated and ready to be recharged or repaired
